Download Tools

To speed things up, we have pre-downloaded these tools onto flash drives for you. They should be on the tables in front of you. If you can't find one just ask a TA!

Step 1: Install Slack

We'll be using the Slack messaging platform during the workshop and afterward to keep in touch.

Step 1.1: Download Slack (All Platforms)

Download the Slack installer and follow the instructions.

Step 1.2: Sign up for the Denver/Boulder Railsbridge Slack!

You can sign up here

Step 1.3: Introduce yourself

Say 'Hello' and share your favorite flavor of ice cream in the #general channel.

Step 1.4: Join the #jsbridge-may-2018 channel

This is where you can ask questions and share your progress throughout this javascript bridge workshop

Step 2: Install Google Chrome

Step 2.1: Download Chrome (All Platforms)

Download Google Chrome.

Step 2.2: Mac: Find the downloaded file in Finder

If you weren't asked where to save it, it's probably in the Downloads folder.

Double click the Chrome .dmg file. Drag Chrome into your Applications folder.

Step 2.3: Windows: Find the downloaded file

If you weren't asked where to save it, it's probably in the Downloads folder.

Double click the ChromeSetup .exe file and follow the prompts to install Chrome.

Step 3: Install Atom

We'll be using the Atom text editor during the workshop, though you are free to use a different editor if you prefer. It must be a plain-text editor, such as vi or TextMate.

Microsoft Word and other word processing programs, including TextEdit and Notepad, will not work.

When in doubt, use Atom.

Step 3.1: Download Atom (All Platforms)

Download the Atom installer.

Step 3.2: Mac: Find the downloaded file in Finder

If you weren't asked where to save it, it's probably in the Downloads folder.

Double click the Atom .zip file to extract it. Drag Atom into your Applications folder.

Step 3.3: Windows: Run the downloaded file

Double click the downloaded AtomSetup .exe file to install Atom.
